He had declined in the wild because of teeth and hoof issues, to the point that he simply couldn\u2019t kerp up with his band anymore or eat enough to sustain himself \u2014 even though the rest of the Salt River wild horses were doing fine.<\/p>\n<p>Once he was in our loving care:<br \/>\n\u2728 We fixed his teeth so he could eat properly again<br \/>\n\u2728 We treated stubborn hoof canker sores<br \/>\n\u2728 He received a specially formulated diet to keep weight on<br \/>\n\u2728 He got the comfort, rest, and peace he deserved<\/p>\n<p>Instead of a slow starvation, Batman was given four good, peaceful years with us \u2014 eating 3 times a day, resting, and enjoying a leisurely life on his terms.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, after the canker was finally under control his laminitus became more severe and it was unfixable. We fought for him with everything we had\u2026 but ultimately had to let him go.
