Most afternoons these days, with the great weather we’ve been having, herds of people come to watch the bands of wild horses on the Salt River.<\/p>\n

SRWHMG volunteers keep an eye out, they give people interesting tidbits on the horses and they also ask people kindly to give the horses a minimum of 50 ft space. Most people are very receptive and are glad to do what’s best for the horses. But every once in a while, well let’s just say someone doesn’t see the need to give them any space at all, so it can become confusing for the horses.<\/p>\n

This weekend was a busy one again, but all of a sudden people’s attention turned to some different horses. Officer Makenzie with the AZDA and Deputy Clint with MCSO came to check on things. It is just wonderful to have them there to explain and chat it up with the public.
\nAfter all, people come from all over America and even from all over the world to see the Salt River wild horses and their popularity is what keeps them here. But their popularity is a two-sided coin. It is an enormous challenge for them, and also for us, to lead their ever-increasing popularity into a manageable situation, for people, and for horses.<\/p>\n

So we want to thank AZDA and MCSO for their super support for the Salt River wild horses; they are always there when we need them.<\/p>\n

Some who were hoping to feed apples and carrots to the wild horses got to feed that to these mounted horses and they got to pet them a lot too!<\/p>\n

Thank you so much to everyone who loves the horses and as always please respect that this is their home, by giving them 50 ft minimum space, and for moving out of their way when they want to get out or into the river.<\/p>\n
