Would it be strange to try and save a Salt River wild Bull?<\/p>\n

This huge old bull has been living a free life on the lower Salt River for many years. He has been visiting our feed station lately, where he tries to go under cover and innocently eats his flake peacefully alongside the horses. The Salt River wild horses seemed to have adopted him as one of their own, and with his polite manners and curly white face, we, also could not help feel like he is part of the family. He became known as Prime Rib.<\/p>\n

However, because Prime Rib won’t stay on the reservation, he is considered stray livestock. Recently, the Forest Service has been impounding the stray livestock (cows, not horses) from the lower Salt River area, and this included Mr. Prime Rib. He is now awaiting public auction.<\/p>\n

This may be strange, and is definitely not included in our job description, but we thought it would be a nice thing, to try and save this old bull. IF there is enough interest, we could bid on him at the auction and find him a farm sanctuary, so that he does not have to turn into a prime rib.<\/p>\n

Prime Rib is approx 1600 pounds and at current prices of around a dollar a pound, we might have to bid up to $2000 dollars at the auction. His transport to a sanctuary or good home would add another $1000 to $1500 depending on where it is.<\/p>\n

We do not have an interested sanctuary yet and can only save him if there is enough interest from our supporters and a sanctuary. We herewith will take suggestions for good homes for him, and we will turn this post into his official fundraiser for $3500<\/p>\n

Help us raise the money and he will be saved. Any additional funds or overage from this fundraiser will be for the next semi-load of hay for the Salt River wild horses to keep supplying these feed stations until we get rain.<\/p>\n

Please give just a few dollars if you want to help save Prime Rib and support the Salt River wild horses at the same time.<\/p>\n
