Snare-trapped.<\/p>\n

Our field team pays close attention to the health of every Salt River wild horse, and when it was noticed that a wire was coming from stallion Neiman’s hock, we knew it had to come off immediately, because it would have cost him his hoof and\/or his life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

AZDA and SRWHMG jumped into action and worked together to carefully sedate Neiman in the field. We fed his band, to keep them close by, and as soon as he was down, the AZDA veterinarians cut the snare off very quickly. He then woke back up and we monitored him until his sedation completely wore off, and walked him back to his band.<\/p>\n

We want to whole heartedly thank the great team of the AZDA: Our Ag Liaison Makenzie, and State veterinarians Dr Mundschenk, and Dr Wolker for coming out as quickly as they did, and making this rescue a great success.Some of our volunteers are actually with Neiman and his band right now, and he is feeling so much better! Hooray.<\/p>\n

We also want to thank our dedicated volunteers and our loyal supporters and donors, without whom, this herd would be far less lucky.<\/p>\n

P.S. We hope that this mean snare was not set up with bad intentions, it is illegal and has no business in the Tonto National Forest.<\/p>\n
