Last night, the Arizona Department of Agriculture, AZDA, successfully relocated Mick’s band from the Butcher Jones area to the riverside of their habitat. This was something we had been attempting for a while, through the tunnels, but we were unsuccessful, because of public interference.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We feel this move is in the best interest of this lone band, as the Butcher Jones area is the busiest area in the Tonto National Forest. This band has had to deal with getting chased by ATV’s and constant hunting and target shooting. The seeps have completely dried up so their access point to water is at the small beach where they have no choice but to maneuver their way in between hundreds of people, dogs, little kids and BBQ grills. This lone band will be very happy to now have other bands to interact with and be on the cool river. One yearling male was emancipated from this band a few months ago and he is now the last lone wild horse in the Butcher Jones area. If anyone comes across him, please let us know, so that we can make sure he ends up at the river with the others also. Please help us thank the AZDA, @Arizona department of agriculture for their humane treatment of the Salt River wild horses.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
